Hi,
I’m 34 weeks and 2 days pregnant. When I had my last visit (Jan -31-2007) my doctor said my baby not turned down. After a week we had 3D scan and they told me the baby was getting down.
Since morning I am feeling lot of pain in lower abdomen and around pubic area. When I am rest at a chair or at my bed, I am not getting the pain But when I move my legs a little bit or walk, I am getting lot of pain there. I called my doctor and they said it could be because of baby getting down. They asked me to call if it gets worse.
Please let me know if anyone knows what it is..

Sounds exactly like what the doctor said it was. The baby is dropping and it’s head is putting pressure on your pubic bones, etc. Try some regular Tylenol for the pain. If it does get worse, call the doctor.
It sounds like the baby has dropped into your pelvis. Try to be comfortable, it’ll all be over soon!
i had the same thing it hurts so bad you cannot move. my baby was head down and she was dropped so could be your almost there !a piece of advice sit sit sit and drink water i cannot tell you why other then it helped that pain go away for me good luck
Just the baby resting its head in your pelvis – has been happening to me for weeks (i am 38 weeks)………….dont take it as a sign that it will be out any sooner – i dont think mine is.

Do some research on “pubic symphisis dysfunction” (not sure if that is spelled correctly). I had that when I was pregnant & your symptoms sound similar…
Your body is preparing for the stages of labor. The baby is getting into position. It gets much more uncomfortable when this happens because your hips are being spread and its putting pressure om things it didnt before. Add that to your ligaments stretching to accomdate a growing baby and there ya have it.
Its normal, its just not comfy.

OOOH! I understand this. You will find that the combination of your baby making its way into position for birth definately influences discomfort in the region. Also be mindful that in this stage of your pregnancy you are releasing a hormone called relaxin. It’s job it to loosen your cartlidge and ligaments in preparation for the birth. When this happens the joint in the front of your pubic bone, where the two halves meet (called a pubic spymphasis) loosens and causes the two halves of the pelvis to move against one another at this site. It is very uncomfortable, I know. Mine became so uncomfortable that in the last weeks of my pregnancy if I rolled over in bed it woke me up (that and the leg cramps, indigestion and human head bouncing on my bladder!). This is often the reason that pregnant women ‘waddle’.
Try this for relief : Lay on your back on the floor with you feet flat on the ground and your knees bent. Get a small ball or a roll of toilet paper (not kidding it works) and place it between your knees. Firmly squeeze the ball with your knees and hold for thirty seconds and then release. Do this as many times a day as comfortable and you may find it eases your discomfort somewhat.
The good news is that after delivery the pain will be gone within a few weeks.

The baby is moving into the correct position. I wouldn’t worry too much. If the pain does get worse or contractions start then be sure to call the doctor. But for now I think it is just the baby’s head… it is uncomfortable but it should be over hopefully soon. Just get into a comfy position and relax. Best of luck to you.
