Question from Amiee

i know someone who is in the very early stages of pregnancy (i think it is about 6-7 weeks) she recently lost her father and now she is obsessively cleaning everything in the house, even if it doesn’t need cleaning and also she is not sleeping regularly enough. i am getting very worried about her. what does this mean? has it happened to any of you?

  • L A:

Normally the obsessive cleaning thing in pregnancy is call Nesting. It’s completely normal but it could be some sort of OCD or mental problems coming through since she’s not sleeping and just went through a traumatic event.

  • With pregnancy, it is usually called “nesting” where the mother is trying to make everything absolutely clean for the coming baby. But for your friend, she may be taking it to an extreme by trying to avoid the pain of losing her father. If everything around her is perfect, then the rest of the world will be perfect. Just a thought.
