Question from j.deadly05

I’ve been cleaning my apartment today, and just the little things like picking this off the floor, or tying the trash bag closed. Those little things are causing me to become VERY nauseated. I’m early in my pregnancy, only about 7 weeks. Any ladies out there go through nausea when doing day to day tasks such as cleaning your home? No cleaning supplies have been involved other than dish soap.

  • Not me, for me it was food and other strong smells. Maybe all the movement is making you queasy. Try drinking lots of water and make sure you get enough rest :) I hope your sickness doesn’t get too bad, cause it sure does suck!

  • sounds like you just have general morning sickness. Tying a garbage bag closed wont really affect you unless its filled with smelly things. Bending over will throw your equilibrium off and that may cause queasiness

  • I am only 6 weeks and I get a little sick to my tummy when I clean. Even if my husband and I have sex I get real sick to my stomach. Havent thrown up though. The smell of the trash grosses me out more too. Oh and if someone farts, that really gets me. Never grosses me out before I got pregnant.

  • I find that when I get exhausted my nausea gets much worse. So yes.
If I do a lot of chores, even vacuuming a few rooms, I will start to feel sick. It gets better when I lie down….but sometimes takes me hours or days to recover.

I’m having twins, so I wear out really quickly, but I’m sure the same could happen in a singleton pregnancy.

Of course, it could also be that the dishsoap you use now makes you nausious. Things like that also happened to me! I use unscented everything now!

  • The garbage always gets me. Same with dirty diapers. And laundry but not my own.. Our laundry room is right by our car and the vent blows on my car so if someone is doing laundry when I go down there, the smell of fabric softener is so strong I can hardly breath. Anything with smells. Also when I am doing dishes or putting them away if i lean over and my stomach presses against the counter, i get really nauseous. I’m 16 weeks.

  • if you go to the store, in the vitamin section, get “ginger root.” it works wonders! all it is is ginger (same principle as drinking ginger ale for an upset tummy) it help w/ the nausea and dizziness. it is the only thing that worked when i was pregnant the first time, and i spoke w/ more than one doc about using this and they gave me the green light all the way. (they are the ones that suggested it in fact.) good luck!

  • Sara:

I also get a little nauseated when doing housework. It happens anytime I get hot. It gets better after I lay down for a while. Also I start to feel better if I have some ginger ale.

  • I’m seven weeks too and it’s just a part of the nausea. Some days I can’t get off the couch and when I start feeling better I might try to clean or something and I get sick. Right now anything and everything makes me sick. I hope you start feeling better soon.
