i was reading what to expect if you are expecting yesterday and it says that each pregnancy is different, sometimes you get sick, sometimes you don't though of course having morning sickness is a clue that you are clearly still very much pregnant so that has to be a positive of having it?!

Hmmm never heard that. I get really really sick, and my little girl is pretty healthy... I think it's just some random statistic that lines up for some reason.

There's lots of "myths" like if you have heartburn/reflux, your baby will have a lot of hair. Or if the heartbeat is fast, it's girl. There's a bunch I can't think of right now.

I hope this pregnancy works out for you and both of you stay healthy!

Rhia B is right, it has more to do with the pregnancy hormone, and some women just handle the increase better than others, making their sickness very mild, but that doesn't mean they have less of it, which is what is more likely to contribute (or at least be related) to a miscarriage.

I've heard that too. I believe it's because nausea is caused by all the extra hormones that your body is producing; lower levels of hormones can indicate that there is something wrong with your pregnancy or that your body is not supporting it well.

Of course, it's also true that plenty of women have healthy pregnancies without expriencing terrible morning sickness.

Best of luck to you!

I never had morning sickness with either of my kids and neither did my sister and my daughter! I think it is one of those wacky tales!

It's not so much that nausea is something that will make it less likely that you miscarry. It's the fact that the hormone that the placenta secretes is usually what makes a woman sick especially in the beginning of pregnancy. If this hormone isn't present, it means the placenta either hasn't formed or isn't functioning, which will eventually lead to miscarriage. So if you do have nausea you can be assured than your placenta is working well, but if you don't have nausea, it also doesn't mean anything because some women just don't get sick. Not to mention that every pregnancy is different, so you may get sick once and then not the second time, you never know. Even if you are sick it's still not a guarantee that you wont miscarry for other reasons.

yes they say so, even though there's no proof for that! there are still lots of women who feel perfectly fine and have a healthy baby - I'd love that because I feel like crap all the time and it feels like it will never get any better
