Oh where to start.
My question is, is it possible to detect a pregnancy at 2 weeks(not 2 weeks after a missed period)?
The first day of my last period was Dec. 27,2009.
The inquiry started when around the 5th of January I had a strange baby dream.
When I had my period Dec. 27 to 31st I was on the pill, however Jan 3 to 9th i was off the pill and started again Jan 10.
I started taking antibiotics on Jan 9 (stopped taking them today). In the past couple days I’ve been tired, headaches, nauseas…which are also side effects from the antibiotics.
however, yesterday I started getting sore nipples when touched and today it has continued, along with nauseasness, headaches, tired.
Yesterday afternoon I took a hpt, it came up negative.
This morning I took another hpt, it was a faint positive.
I’m going to take another test in a couple days or so. I’m just wondering if it’s possible to detect a pregnancy at 2 weeks?(which i used a pregnancy calculator to determine)
**edit
I’ve also been experiencing cramps since Jan 3.
taking a blood test isn’t really the answer to my question…but I plan on doing so after the next hpt.

take a blood test
No, a HPT won’t give you a definitive answer until 4-6 weeks. Go to a doctor. The blood test they do can tell you if you’re pregnant the same day you conceive.
And despite what other people are saying, it IS possible to get a false positive. I have first-hand experience with this.
Probably not. You may want to wait a while. Like 4 weeks maybe 3 would be good. I found out when I was 5 weeks. so, it may be possible for 3 or 4 but I doubt 2. Although I have also heard that you can. Depending on the pregnancy test you buy. Good Luck and I hope this Helped!
you wont get a pos result until closer to the time of your next period. if you had a period the end of dec and have a regular cycle you would have had to get regnant around the 9th or so… which is when you said you went off the pill.
this could have cause you to get pregnant but… it would be way to early to tell as it takes about 14 days for the egg to implant. only then will the pregnancy hormone start being produced.
the pos test you got could have been due to the antibiotics in your system with the pill.
it depends on when you ovulated. if you ovulated around 7-10days ago, then yes, you would get a very faint positive
A positive test is a positive test, faint or not. The directions with your test should say that. There are certain things that can cause a false positive. I don’t recall if antibiotics are one of them, but that is probably also covered in the instructions. I’d definitely wait and test again later.
No, at 2 weeks of pregnancy you are ovulating, which can cause the symptoms you are having. If you want a baby now is the time to have sex.
they count the first 2 weeks pre conception as part of the pregnancy.
It’s possible to get a false negative, but it’s not possible to get a false positive. It doesn’t matter if the line was faint, if it’s there, then it’s there.
It was a tad bit hard to follow but yes there is a possibility that you are pregnant. The best way for early detection is getting either a blood test or a standard pee test from the drug store (I suggest Clear Blue – best for early detection). Here are some early pregnancy signs:
Backaches and Headaches
Tender, Swollen Breasts
Nausea
Frequent Urination
Light Bleeding or Cramping
Fatigue
A Missed or Different Period
Positive Pregnancy Test

Good luck and congrats if you are stock up on those prenatal vitamins!
A faint positive is a positive. Antibiotics would not have affected it as the test only looks for a certain level of the pregnancy hormone – no antibiotic is going to put the pregnancy hormone in you. To keep your sanity test again in a few days, I bet it will be darker.
congrats!
It would be unlikely, but possible… you would only be 18 days into your cycle, and if you ovulated early, at most you would only be 10 days past ovulation, and your hcg level would be too low to be detected on anything but the most sensitive of HPTs. And if you got a faint positive, you are likely pregnant – the only thing that causes a positive on an HPT is pregnancy (if the line showed up within the alloted time period – if it showed up hours later, it could be an evaporation line). Side note: many antibiotics nullify the effect of birth control pills, so you are technically not protected at all this month. Your doctor or pharmacist should have told you this.
