Question from Nike Diva
I just found out I am pregnant with #2!!!! We are very excited about this! However, I am worried about being a bit overweight and carrying a pregnancy. Is it safe to purposely lose weight while pregnant in your first trimester? TIA!!

i owuldnt trty to lose weight…you can eat healthy and exercise…but be safe with it…..you want your baby to get everything it needs so dieting isnt good but like i said you can eat healthy …more fruits and veggies and do not over do exercising! good luck and congrats!
You shouldn’t lose weight during your first trimester. You need to just eat healthy and exercise. Being a bit overweight, you just shouldn’t be gaining as much weight with this pregnancy.
It probably depends on what your weight and height is now, how much you want to lose, and what you are going to be doing to lose weight. Generally, I am sure you know this, but women don’t typically lose weight when they are pregnant.
its definitley not recommended to go on a diet or deliberatley lose weight while pregnant. you need to take in extra calories (about 300 more a day) for nutrition for your baby and for you while your body is going through this serious transformation. wait until after the baby is here to worry about your weight issues.
Don’t go on any weight loss diet without talking to your doctor first, just eat healthy, and drink plenty of water.
It is not safe to diet while pregnant. Just eat healthy and don’t go by the eating for 2 phrase. yes you are eating for two but one of you is VERY tiny. Some overweight women tend to lose weight while pregnant. I lost 17lbs in my first trimester.
purposely losing weight is a bad idea..
just make sure you eat very healthy throughout your pregnancy and you’ll be okay.
you should not purposely try to lose weight. you should increase your intake of healthy food. I lost about 20 pounds during my first trimester because my eating habit changed for the better and the morning sickness. also try to do some pregnancy exercises, that will really help you keep your body together.
You should really discuss this with your doctor, they will be able to give you the best advice.
It’s not safe to lose weight while pregnant because your baby depends on the food you are taking in. Much better, you have to minimize taking salty foods to prevent water retention and fatty foods. Drink plenty of water, fresh fruits and vegetables.
I dont know about intentionally trying to lose weight – probably not because you need to make sure baby gets all the good stuff he/she needs to develop and grow. But I did loose a stone/14pounds at the begining of my pregnancy, Ive put it all back on and more now though
