Question from T T T Tina
I’m 18 weeks pregnant and i was not able to use the bathroom for a couple days so i took some milk of magnesia and i took 4tb(it said between 2-4). After about 3 hours it worked and i was able to go and now i have diarrhea.

So my questions are has anyone else had constipation this early in pregnancy? Is it normal to get diarrhea after taking milk of magnesia? Has anyone taken this and had diarrhea after, and if so how long did it last?
sorry if the questions seem dumb. Any information would be great!!!

I did not take milk of magnesia, but I have been very constipated throughout my pregnancy(40 weeks 3 days and had bloody show yesterday). I think it is from the iron in the prenatal vits. The best thing I did to help was drink a lot of water and eat things like grapes and apples. It turns out nature has it’s own stool softeners. Good luck. Hope it gets better for you.
Hi there
I am almost 25weeks, and ive suffered with constipation during my pregnancy since about 16weeks. I have never used milk of magnesia, i first started with lactose syrup but it didn’t help, just created alot of wind, i contemplated taking senna, but paid a visit to my Doctor instead, who did not recommend taking senna at all during pregnancy as its a bowel stimulant, and could cause issues with baby too. So he gave me Movicol, which is a powder you mix with water, i take one a day now and am fairly regular now, although i must admit, i do tend to have diarrhea and need to visit the loo with urgency, depending what i’ve eaten. But to me its much better than the stomach cramps i was getting with the constipation, that was agony!
Prune Juice – fantastic and natural.
Don’t worry about the runs, you are pregnant, don’t expect your body to work like it once did.
