Question from Misty Dawn
I’ve been sick for almost 2 weeks straight. It’s been from the moment I wake up to the time I go to bed. I can barely function anymore! Any tips to beat this? It doesn’t seem like its going to end on its own anytime soon!

Sounds strange, but ginger biscuits! Worked for me.
There are preggo pops which are supposed to help. I have also heard that ginger root is good
Crackers, and stay close to the toilet.
crackers and 7up it helped i had morning sickness like that and everytime my daughter kicked i threw up but the crackers and 7up helped i kept them by my bed and i as soon as i woke up i started in on them ritz not saltines
25ml of b6 vitamin 3 times a day, the same time every day, without fail. In about a week it REALLY starts to cut down on the sickness, in two weeks it goes away, it only comes back when you stop taking them.
Saved my butt.
Ginger helps a lot. I’ve seen the ginger pops. Most of my family swears by ginger during pregnancy.
ginger ale and saltines…keep them near the bed and snack on a few before even getting up
I was like that just recently, and my Dr. told me to get off the prenatal pills until I start feeling better, and just take 1MG of folic acid instead.
It totally has helped me out.
Other than that, they say to eat some crackers right before you get out of bed to settle your tummy.
sip soda. warm coke worked best for me. My sister-in-law chewed bubble gum. like all day.
Practically nothing worked for me, BUT… eating something, as difficult as it can be, can help! Whenever I had an empty stomach it was 10 times worse. I also found that drinking something carbonated would help settle my stomach a little. I had morning, noon, and night sickness for a long time and I really thought I was going to lose my mind. Hang in there!
Here’s a website that helped me in my time of morning sickness or as I like to call it. ‘all damn day sickness’
You never know when it will end, some women don’t have it at all (lucky b*tches) Some woman have it the whole fricking time (I pray that is not you =D)
Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!
Boy do I hear you! I was sick from week 6 to 14 and it really sucks:( I tried everything…lemons, crackers, drinking lots of fluids…and nothing seemed to work for me. There are lots of things to try and if you find something that works for you…stick with it! If not…like me…ask your doctor about Diclectin…it saved me! It didn’t take away the nausea completely, but at least I could function and eat again (in the beginning I lost a fair bit of weight). I have now been able to gain back what I lost and even put on about another 2 lbs (I am just over 16 weeks). Good luck and be assured that it usually doesn’t last past the first trimester:)
You poor thing.. nausea sucks.
Ask your doctor to perscribe this medicine for you, it really works for nausea while pregnant: ONDANSETRON ODT 8MG TABLETS
Lemon wedges in water. Little sips frequently throughout the day. Something about the sourness, and the aroma settled my stomach.
Don’t let your stomach get empty and get plenty of sleep. Eat something, even a few crackers, every 30min while you are awake and start it as soon as you wake up(keep food next to the bed). Vitamin b6 is good as well as ginger(although I hate ginger so didn’t work for me).
Good luck, it does end eventually.
Poor thing. How far along are you?
I was sick from week 5 to week 10. The only thing that helped was saltine crackers. And those only helped half the time.
It will get better. My OB said it should subside by week 12-14 (although there are the unfortunate few that have it longer).
Good luck!
Ginger, celery, saltine crackers, dry toast. Different things work for different people. Keep in mind gingerale does not have ginger in it and may not give the same effect as real ginger. Try ginger snaps or something of the sort and check ingrediants.
Anything ginger and a white diet, rice, saltine crackers, vanilla icecream, etc. ( low taste and smell)
well hun i know you dont wanna hear this but not much worked for me i tried everything (crackers helped the most and as did sprite) i had it bad but once you enter your 2nd trimester it should get better it did for me but try an enjoy it cause then once you get to your third trimester you get to feel big lol but hunny it is a great time i know you problay dont think so know (i didnt either) but know i look back and would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Just wait til he or she looks up at you and smiles it just makes your heart melt. i sure hope i helped ya. If you have any more questions or just need someone to talk to you can email me congrads on your new little one.
I also had all day sickness with both of my kids and it was very inconvenient! I was told by my doctor to keep crackers next to the bed and before I even sat up to eat a couple of them and just lay there a few minutes. This worked so well! I only drank water and warm 7UP. Once I was up I was able to keep things down, but before I ate anything I would eat a few crackers (saltines) and then I would eat the regular food! I hope this helps, I know how you feel! Good luck and happy cracker eating!
When the nausea hit I either went straight for Sour Altoids or lemons. Anything sour helped me a lot.
Sorry you are have morning sickness. It sucks!
If you can not keep yourself hydrated or the vomiting becomes extreme, contact your OB. They can prescribe meds that help.
My daughter got pretty sick in the beginning of her pregnancy. And honestly the only way she stopped it was to eat. Any time she let herself get even a little hungry she would get sick. So every couple of hours she will eat a cracker or two. She leaves packages of crackers on her night stand and eats them before she even gets out of bed in the morning. She hasn’t really gotten sick since. Good luck and congrats.
Try keeping saltine crackers and sprite by your bed. When you wake up eat a few before even getting out of the bed. Then during the day eat small light meals or snacks throughout the day.
If you get sick from prenatal vitamens , you can take Flintones for kids. That is what my doctor told me a few weeks ago.
Poor you! I know how you feel cos I was sick from week 5 onwards until the day I gave birth. Even after I gave birth, I vomitted. And my sickness doesnt just start from the moment I woke up. Even when I’ve fallen asleep at night, I could wake up in the middle of the night and still vomit. In order to keep some food down in my tummy, I ate and I lie down straight away at least for an hour. If you find crackers not pallatable, try cooked rice or bread. Don’t drink more than two mouthfuls of water at one go. Take little sips. I tried ginger drink but didnt help much. My vomitting got so bad, I lost weight and my gastric came back so i had to take med. In the end, had no choice, I woke up at 6am everyday, force myself to drank a cup of warm milk and go back to bed. It helps me to get through the day by the time i wake up around mid morn. Rmbr to take lots of rest. Take your pregnancy a day at a time.
Hope this helps….Btw Congrats!
Eat small amounts of food all day and all night long. If you get yourself up to eat in the middle of the night and again in the wee hours of the morning, the nausea won’t hit you first thing when you get up. You have to keep feeding yourself every couple of hours. Buy some ginger beer. Buy a lot of different kinds of food so you can find something appetizing. Its hard having to eat so many times a day, but it will not last forever.
get a prescription for phenegran or zofran. tats the only thing that helped me.
IZZE soda, peppermint tea – it’s the only stuff that’s been able to calm my stomach.
