Question from ……………..

I’m 5 weeks and 5 days…No vomiting yet, just a lot of nausea. What has helped you avoid getting sick or control it?

For me…when I’m felling nausous- the scent of laundry detergent.

  • Ginger Ale & Ginger Cookies

  • I snacked on saltine crackers, and drank a lot of water. This really helped me.

  • I had extreme morning sickness with both of my pregnancies. I would suck on sweet tarts (the candy) and get ginger snap cookies before getting out of bed in the morning as they helped calm my stomach!!! Ginger Ale also worked I would take a few sips of that when I was feeling nausous and it worked great!! Good luck and Congratulations!!!!!

  • i found that soda crackers, ginger ale, and lemons helped a bit….by morning sickness got worse as I went on to the point where I lost weight because I was not able to keep anything down so my dr put me on declectine

  • My favorite cure were ginger candies or crystalized ginger. But it’s a strong taste that not everyone likes.

  • Anything sour or tart!

  • sucking on sugar free hard candies helps me, so do crackers and making sure i eat something small every couple of hours. making sure to take my prenatal with a meal helps immensely. i tried ginger snaps or ginger ale, but they make my hearburn flare up. :(

  • Try eating things with ginger. It is suppose to help. Eating small portions throughout the day, instead of 3 big meals can help.
There are preggie pops at some maternity stores too.

  • I had horrible morning sickness with my first, and pretty bad sickness with my second. Then I started going to a midwife she said that drinking milk is the biggest reason for morning sickness. With this pregnancy I have stayed away from milk and I have been morning sickness free.

  • You can take Tums to help with the acid in your stomach since you are probably not eating anything. They are also a great source of calcium. Call your Dr. and let them know that you are having such bad morning sickness, my doctor gave me meds to help with mine, if not the Tums really seemed to help.

  • To be honest nothing some ppl have nausea throughout their whole pregnancy others sometime get over it within 4 months. I would say eat lots of saltine crackers and drink lots of water. Eat light meals nothing really greasy. If all else fails just talk with your doctor they can give you meds to help as well with nausea. Good luck to you because I’ve been there and back. Thank god that’s over….

  • Sour candy and lemons helped me sooooo much! I used Sour Altoids, I don’t know if they even make those anymore. I know I have recently seen sugar-free sour icebreakers (like mints but sour flavors instead). Give those a shot. If you do experience vomiting and you start to feel dehydrated give your OB a call they can prescribe safe medications to help. Dehydration during pregnancy is very unsafe.

Take care and best of luck!!

  • try ginger ale, mints worked for me.. they were a quick fix.. hopefully it goes away soon for you… congrats

  • okay… don’t listen to me if you think this is gross, but… a really reliable and OLD cure for nausea is olives.

yes, the pimento stuffed green ones.

    i hear its the salt.

people use them for motion sickness.

    car sickness too.

eat a few BEFORE you think you will get sick and the salt dries you out a bit… not so much tummy mucous forms…

    best of luck!

  • For me it was saltine crackers and sips of water.

  • Eat saltine crackers before you get out of bed and keep some with you at all times.
