If a girl has an abortion and 2-3 days later a home pregnancy test is still positive and she still shows signs of pregnancy, is it normal? Or a sign that the procedure wasn’t done correctly?

that girl made a huge mistake and should probably think about it, and not do it again, but i hope shes okay because abortions cause a great deal of pain and suffering(mentally and physically) and i pray for her.

That’s normal. It takes a while for the body to readjust itself — the hormone that is produced during pregnancy doesn’t disappear overnight, it make take a few weeks to disappear completely. Think of it this way — it took several weeks to work up to that point, it will take several weeks to go away completely.
Just call and ask a clinic or come in maybe they might need to do tests on you.
if you are on birth-control it generally gives a positive test because birth control tricks your body into thinking its pregnant. also you might still have the hormones from the baby in your body.
there is no way the child is still alive inside you.
and abortion is just that.
theres practically nill chance of survival.
you know how they do it.
so dont be worried. and you should have a check up wth a doctor anyways after an abortion to ensure everything is okay in there and its still possible for you to hae children in the future.

2-3 days is NOTHING. Why’d you take a pregnancy test after an abortion anyway? Girl, the baby is GONE.
Edit: wtf stop with all the “baby killer” comments! A woman has a right to choose, in any situation! Esp. if your raped or very young!! Abortion will never become illegal, and do you seriously think people wouldn’t kill their babies? They’d use coat hangers or something- seriously wouldn’t you rather do it in a doctor’s office
It could be a continued pregnancy with is very possible with a medical abortion. If you had a surgical abortion you should be fine, because the doctor will physically see the pregnancy pass. But if you had a medical abortion where they have you take the pills at home that induce a miscarriage then you may want to go to the doctor and they can do an ultrasound to see if there is still a pregnancy. It could just be that your hormones are still a little crazy right now too. Just keep your doctor informed, they will know what to do, and what is normal! Good Luck!
The HCG levels are going to remain high in your system. They should have given you birth control pills of some sort …those weren’t just for the obvious reason they are also to help with the hormone levels. THe home pregnancy tests don’t tell you how high the levels are just that they are present. This is the same after a miscarriage. No worries.
Yeah, it’s your hormones in your body, if it continues, you may wish to call the clinic, certain procedures like RU486 and saline abortions (i din’t even think they do those often) can VERY rarely result in a continued pregnancy, if so you may need to have a D&C to remove the remaining parts, even so what’s left will probably just be a placenta. oh, yeah and you are not a baby-killer some people *cough*Violet Hope *cough* don’t know anything and you did choose life: your life

It might be normal. A preg test is detecting high levels of a hormone that comes with pregnancy. She may still have high levels of the hormone since she WAS pregnant. Wait 7 days and then take a preg test again or have a follow up visit with a OBGYN.
No, no. The hormones from pregnancy just take a while to work their way out of her system. She’s not pregnant, she’s fine.
