  • KK:

I’d say they are pretty good, as sperm can live in your for 3-6 days. I would wait to test until at least the day before your expected period. Any earlier and the results won’t be very accurate.

  • don’t semen live in the body for days? it’s possible to get pregnant

  • My OB/GYN says that you need to BD prior to Oing so you can catch the egg. Your best chances are BDing a few days prior to Oing. You should test when your period is expected because the hCG will not start to build up in your system until implantation has occurred which is about 6-10 after fertilization.

  • sounds like a good chance good luck

  • You can’t actually ‘get pregnant’ until you ovulate, but the chances of getting pregnant from the sperm that were deposited two days prior are pretty high — about 25-30% if you and he have ‘normal’ fertility.

  • It sounds like your chances are about as good as it gets! The best results are when the sperm are lying in wait for the egg when it’s released.

I was able to get a positive pregnancy test at 8 days past ovulation with an “early results” test. It really will depend on the test and your own hCG levels.

    Good Luck!

  • Yes, the 3 days prior to ovulation are prime time for getting pregnant. Most pregnancies are the result of intercourse that had taken place within the 3 days prior to ovulation. Your chances are about 25%. Which is the most any of us TTC have, each month of actively trying and timing intercourse around our fertile window and ovulation. You didi good! The earliest you can test is 4-5 days before your expected period with an early result test like First Response. Please keep in mind that testing early increases your chances of getting a false negative. The early tests do not work for everyone. The closer you wait to your expected period to test, the less chance you have a false negatives. I would test the day before at the earliest. Good luck and baby dust!!
