Many women are alarmed to find that getting pregnant is not as easy as it seems. It may become a long and complicated struggle that can eventually put quite an emotional strain on a relationship. Women may fear that they are infertile. While this is the case for some, most of the time conception is possible with continued effort. People don’t realize that it can take up to a year of regular unprotected sex before conception occurs, even for healthy, fertile couples.

To increase your chances, here are some simple steps you can take.

First of all, make sure that your diet is healthy and rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. Eat plenty of fresh fruit, green leafy vegetables, whole wheat grains, lean meat, and dairy. Unhealthy diets that consist of fast food and processed, chemical-laden foods do not offer your body much nourishment, and do not provide an adequate environment for conception to take place.

Though it may be obvious, always remember to avoid drinking and taking drugs while trying to get pregnant.

Next, you’ll need to keep track of ovulation. Become familiar with your menstrual cycle by tracking it every month. Generally, your cycle begins on the first day of your period. Day fourteen through eighteen are considered your most fertile days. One of these days is considered your ovulation day, the most fertile day of your cycle. You can calculate this by subtracting two weeks, or fourteen days, from the last day of your cycle. However, every woman’s cycle is different, so your ovulation day may not line up exactly.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to increase the likelihood of conception. However, the most important thing to remember is to just relax! So many couples get caught up in the desperate struggle to conceive that even having sex starts feeling like ?work?, and it becomes a source of stress and anxiety in their lives. Many report that once they let go, relax, and stop trying so hard, pregnancy comes easily, without effort.
